The Illinois Geographical Society will convene its 2015 annual conference in Bloomington-Normal between Thursday, 30 April, and Saturday, 2 May, at the Parke Regency Hotel & Conference Center on the far eastern edge of Bloomington, a mile north of Central Illinois Regional Airport. Following the theme of the meeting, Prairie Nexus: Transportation Hub of Downstate Illinois, the Friday field trip, Friday banquet speaker, and Saturday luncheon speaker will deal with historical, current, and future-trending transportation amenities in the Twin Cities, including passenger and freight by air, freight rail, Amtrak, intercity bus, transit bus, over-the-road trucking, and bike/pedestrian friendliness. Papers and posters, on any geographical topic, will be the Saturday morning focus. Following the Saturday luncheon, an after-meeting field trip will focus on McLean County's connections to Historic Route 66. Contact Michael D. Sublett, firstname.lastname@example.org, with questions about the conference.
